The artist began painting her assortment of whimsical Day of the Dead characters on the walls of her home. Soon she had a collection of them all over the house and ran out of wall space. Next she painted them on the more traditional medium of canvas, and one of these earned her a ribbon at the 2005 "Expo New Mexico" art exhibition.
But soon her home was overwhelmed by the number of paintings. Then what?
"While partaking in a little of my favorite wine it dawned on me: Why throw away these once filled bottles of joy when I can clean them up, paint them, and share my new creations with the world?" And that's how her collection of practical but artistic kitchen items began.
Made In New Mexico found Kim when her wine bottles, salt and pepper shakers, glassware, and travel mugs were featured in New Mexico Magazine in 2006. They quicky become some of the best-selling art items in our retail store in Taos, so now we offer them to our Internet vistors from all over the world.
